Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger were planning to make a movie together for the longest time possible. The two bodybuilders discussed possible collaborations for many years, as far back as the mid - 1980’s! The schedules were not allowing them to do so... Now that Schwarzenegger is no longer governor and his appearances in ‘Expendables’ movies was quite successful, the two finally made their dreams come true!
This movie had a budget of more than 70 million, and boasts impressive cast. To name a few we all recognize: Sylvester Stallone, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jim Caviezel, 50 Cent and Vinnie Jones.
There was a lot of confusion with the film title. It kept changing between Escape Plan, Exit Plan, The Tomb and just Escape.
Escape Plan is directed by Swedish filmmaker Mikael Håfström, screenplay was written by Miles Chapman and consecutively re-written by Jason Keller. Story centers on Stallone's character, a talented engineer who is wrongly convicted of a crime, and thrown in a prison of his own design! Brilliant escape together with Schwarzenegger follows!
It is known that Bruce Willis was taking part in this production, but for reasons unknown dropped out.
When the principal crew were shooting on Bourbon Street in New Orleans, a military convention interrupted them, and hundreds of uniformed soldiers and marines accidentally walked onto the set! Sylvester posed for some photos with these guys. Shortly after the filming, mr. Stallone got news that his oldest son, Sage, died from a heart attack…
Sylvester Stallone got a serious injury while on set. The tendon of his right foot was damaged during the filming of a fight scene! This required more than 70 stitches to fix afterwards!
